This month's EMD preparedness newsletter focuses on weathering the coming summer heat -- for people and pets, as well as visitors arriving for FIFA World Cup soccer matches in the greater Los Angeles area.

In addition to warmer temperatures, June is a time for celebrations -- vacations, picnics, cookouts, and beach days. Time to refresh your heat-safety habits

Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and seek shade when possible. Never leave children, older adults, or pets in parked vehicles -- for any amount of time.

And, speaking of pets -- June is "National Pet Preparedness Month" as well.

Visitors from across the globe will also be traveling to the area for World Cup matches in nearby Inglewood, and soccer fan celebrations all around the City.
