September News: 25 Years since 9/11 and El Niño Ahead | Emergency Management Department

25th Anniversary of September 11 / For most born before this century, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, still stand among a handful of "where were you when that happened" moments. Beyond the thousands of lives were lost, they cast a long shadow across America and the world. 9/11 is a stark reminder that not all disasters are "natural." Accidents, negligence, and human hatred can bring unannounced threats and dangers. Keep a mindset of preparedness and an awareness of potential threats.

September's Emergency Management Department readiness newsletter looks BACK, at what can be learned from the tragic events of 9/11 (now 25 years ago) and FORWARD, at early expectations for the 2026-27 El Niño season.

Throughout the month, the City will take part in, and help promote activities related to September being "National Prepareness Month" to help Angelenos prepare -- more and better -- using the many @ReadyLA resources available at: ReadyLA.org
